As opposed to other circuit breakers, 48v DC circuit breakers are designed to interfere with electrical current flow specifically on electrical systems with a DC of 48 volts.
Similarly, they have a dual pole existing within the circuit that is characteristically designed to accommodate the potential difference of electric current of 48v.

In this case, the voltage rating of an electrical system, therefore, determines the type of circuit breaker to be used. Furthermore, the trip mechanisms also vary depending on the voltage of a circuit breaker.
For instance, a 48v DC circuit breaker trips after the optimum voltage of 48v is exceeded since it is designed to only accommodate up to a maximum of 48v. Voltage beyond the required 48 will thus lead to the malfunctioning of the system.
Applications include:
- Motor connection
- Electrical appliance connections
- Generator connections
